When I was a kid, I had pretty bad asthma. That meant spending afternoons on the bathroom floor, running steam showers to loosen my lungs. In an effort to make the best of it, my mother armed herself with piles and piles of books: Little Golden Books, Amelia Bedelia, Dr. Seuss. Anything she could get her hands on.

Unbeknownst to her, she would stoke the fire that has become my lifelong love of books—and of storytelling. It never ceases to amaze me how the right words can open up an entire world in someone's mind.

Advertising is all about stories—for clients and brands that want to connect with their audiences. â€‹I want to tell their stories. To breathe life into words that will make people feel. Or think. Or act. (Or all three.)

Today, I still don't leave the house without a book, but now I also don't leave without a pen. After all, you never know when you'll find another story.
